We'd like to give a big thanks to Jeff and Bonnie Steinman and their crew at Hop Head Farms for the fantastic tour they gave our members and guests this past Saturday. It was amazing seeing acre after acre of vines followed up by the processing facilities to see how their product goes from field and eventually into our beers. We look forward to seeing their crops appearing in numerous harvest ales and regular beers at breweries throughout the Midwest.
This is a friendly reminder that we will be having our monthly meeting this coming Monday, August 19th at 7pm at Old Dog Tavern. The topic will be sensory evaluation and off flavors.
Thanks to efforts of member Andrew VanderKlok, I have an amazing announcement for everyone. Starting this week, Beer and Skittles will be offering KLOB Wednesdays: show your KLOB card on Wednesday, and receive $1.00 off any 6-pack or 4-pack, your choice.
This excludes mix-and-match 4-packs (which are $.50 off every day). However, it includes mix-and-match 6-packs (which are $1 off every day), so now for KLOB members, mix-and-match 6-packs will be $2 off on Wednesdays when they show their card.
As we announced at the July meeting, we were in the process of coordinating with longtime members Jeff Steinman about a club visit to his establishment, Hop Head Farms. We are pleased to announce that we have worked out all the details and have an extra surprise in store.
Summer is the perfect time to brew which means we're all probably making frequent trips to the store to pick up supplies. If you store of choice is Bell's General Store, we want to pass along a reminder to always bring your membership card with you in order to get your club member discount. Bell's will not be able honor your discount unless you physically present your card prior to your check out being completed.
Another big thanks to Geoff Groff for his excellent presentation on meads last night. If you didn't get a chance to review his handout or you want a copy to keep for your own records, it's available on our website:
Also, we want to start collecting your feedback on the presentation we do at each meeting so we can find out what's working and what's not. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey and make your voice heard!
This is a friendly reminder that we will be having our normal monthly meeting this coming Monday, July 15th at 7pm at Old Dog Tavern. Geoff Groff will be giving a talk on meads with some commercial examples. If you have some of your own meads at home, please bring them in to share.
This is a reminder that we have reserved Meijer Shelter at Markin Glenn Park for Sunday, July 14th. Everyone is welcome to come share beer, food and (hopefully) some sunshine. We will be getting started at noon and have the space reserved until park closing around 8pm. The club will provide charcoal for grilling and coolers with ice.
