Now it’s time to meet mead — and this meeting might just change what you thought fermentation could be.
This month’s feature: an interactive presentation on meadmaking by Brian Stephens, a decorated brewer whose meads have taken home multiple competition medals. From delicate traditionals to bold fruit bombs, Brian will walk us through:
- How mead is made — from honey to glass
- What makes a mead medal-worthy
- Yeast, fermentation, aging, and flavoring techniques
- Tastings and Q&A to follow — come curious, leave inspired
Whether you’re a brewer looking to expand your craft or just want to sip something extraordinary, this is one of those rare meetings you’ll be kicking yourself for missing.
KLOB Kup Submission Deadline
- All entries for the KLOB Kup Homebrew Competition are due this meeting!
- One entry per member, two bottles. Any style. Winner gets the chalice, the glory, and the bragging rights.
- Complete a Beer Scoresheet and (2) Bottle Identification Forms for your entry. Use a rubber band to hold the Bottle Identification Form to your bottles. Do not tape
- Avoid caps with labels, logos, or markings that could identify you as the brewer. Using a sharpie to black out the cap is fine.
