December Meeting
For those of us that have been a part of the club for a number of years, we always look forward to the annual holiday meeting. This is held during our normal monthly meeting in December, which will be next Monday, the 15th. However, we forego a formal presentation in favor of a social gathering and celebration of the previous year.
Traditionally, we try to have a theme for our holiday meeting. This year our focus is European Essentials. We have collected an array of amazing beers from the historic source of brewing to showcase the best of what brewing has to offer. There will be an emphasis on brands and styles that every serious craft beer fan should try at least once in their lives with a few surprises thrown in.
To complete our festive atmosphere, we encourage attendees to bring in dishes and snacks to share. We also want to welcome friends and family that share our passion for amazing beer. All together, we hope to have a fantastic time as we bring another successful year to a close.
With all this merriment, we know that many of you will be indulging in the beers the club will provide, as well as those offered by Boatyard or homebrews brought in by members. We strongly suggest to make advanced arrangements for a designated driver or taxi to get you home safely.
KLOB-oration Voting
As we mentioned at previous meetings and newsletters, we are working with our good friends at Boatyard Brewing Company on a special collaboration project developing a beer that will be unveiled during Kalamazoo Beer Week (January 10th - 17th). Our first round of voting narrowed down 34 style choices down to the top 3: Oatmeal Stout, American IPA and ESB. We are now ready to share the recipes created by KLOB and Boatyard.
All recipes are targeting a conventional 5 gal homebrew size but will be ramped up to Boatyard's 5 BBL system. Pay close attention to our choice of grain, hops and yeast for a set of exciting intrepretations of these classic styles.
