Kalamazoo Kup 2013 and Other Announcements

Kalamazoo Kup 2013

In an effort to help those brewers who are new to competitions and improve the quality and diversity beer brewed by the club, we are pleased to announce a new annual event: THE KALAMAZOO KUP. For this inaugural year, this competition will be exclusively for KLOB members. You can submit 1 entry to any of the 23 major BJCP beer categories with a maximum to 3 total entries. You will need to submit two 12 ounce bottles for each entry.

There will be a cap of 80 entries for the entire competition so you'll want to submit yours as soon as possible. We will be accepting entries starting at the November 18th meeting. After that, you can drop off your entries to Tempo Vino until December 2nd. We will select one winner from each major category based on score as well as a "Best in Show". We will announce winners at the December 16th meeting.

Entries will be evaluated by BJCP-certified judges. If you are a certified judge or know someone who is and would like to volunteer, please contact us. If we are short judges, we will nominate honorary judges to assist with the evaluations. When you submit your entries, we please ask that you complete both an entry/recipe as well as bottle ID forms.

Iron Brewer 2013

Our good friends at the Red Ledge Brewers homebrew club have invited our members to participate in an exciting event. Similar to the popular TV show "Iron Chef", teams will brew a beer featuring a secret ingredient only known to the host until it is unveiled. If you are interested in representing our club, please let us know.
