Thanks to everyone who attended the tour at Bell's. An even bigger thanks to John Mallett, Gary Nicholas and David Curtis for helping organize and host the event.
KLOB Roast 2012
Tickets for this year's Roast are now available. Prices are $10 for members and $15 for non-members. You can purchase them at the August meeting or at Tempo Vino Winery in downtown Kalamazoo. The ticket covers the cost of your entrance into the park, dinner and a collectible pint glass. Don't wait, tickets are limited but all are welcome: friends, family, co-workers, EVERYONE!
This year's event will be held on September 15th from noon to 8pm at Coldbrook County Park in Climax. Food will be a whole hog roast prepared and served by Sean Anderson Catering. T-shirts are available for $13 by pre-order but must be received by the August meeting.
But most importantly is the BEER! This is a BYOB event and we're looking to sample many great beers, meads and ciders from everyone who attends. There's still time to brew a special beer just for the event so get brewing!
Porter Competition
We had 10 entries in the AHA club-only competition selection for porter back on Tuesday the 17th. We had a wide variety styles and flavors proving what a diverse category porter can be. But in the end, it was Eric Tabor's entry that received the most votes. We'll be sending his beer to the national competition so wish him and our club luck!
We're hoping to hold many more club competitions in the future. Check out the AHA schedule to get a preview of what's next:

Mead Day
Saturday, August 4th is the AHA Mead Day. If you've never made mead before, this is a great opportunity to give it a try. The AHA has provided recipes and how-to's on their website:

If anyone would like to host a Mead Day party, let us know and we can spread the word.
