In an effort to help those brewers who are new to competitions and improve the quality and diversity beer brewed by the club, we are pleased to announce our annual event: THE KALAMAZOO KUP.
Eligibility:
To keep this small and manageable, this competition will be exclusively for KLOB members.
Entries:
You can submit 1 entry to any of the 23 major BJCP beer categories with a maximum to 3 total entries. You will need to submit two 12 ounce bottles for each entry. There will be a cap of 80 entries for the entire competition so you'll want to submit yours as soon as possible. We will be accepting entries starting at the November 17th meeting. After that, you can drop off your entries to Tempo Vino until December 3rd.
When you submit your entries, we please ask that you complete both an entry/recipe as well as bottle ID forms and attach them with a rubber band.

Entry bottles should be free of all labels and caps should be free of marks or blacked out. Any entries with these defects will be disqualified.
Judging:
This will be a sanctioned BJCP competition. If you or someone you know are a BJCP judge interesting in earning credit, please contact us. If we are short judges, we will nominate honorary judges to assist with the evaluations.
The 10 highest scored beers will go on to a Best in Show.
Tips and Suggestions:
- Do your best to properly categorize your entry into one of the available category and subcategories as defined by the BJCP. If you are using special ingredients or techniques, consider submitting your beer in "catch all" category 23. If you have any question about how best to submit your beer, feel free to contact us.
- Include as much info about your beer as possible for the judges, especially if using special ingredients or techniques (ex. crazy fruit beer, aged in grandma's old trunk, etc.).
- We repeat, NO LABELS OR MARKED BOTTLE CAPS. If you are reusing commercials bottles, make sure all traces of the original label has been removed. If you mark your caps to track different beers, black out those markings. The entries need to be as anonymous as possible.
- Do not tape your entry forms to the bottles, use a rubber band.
