The RED SALAMANDER presents IRON BREWER 2013
When: Saturday, October 12, 2013
Where: 902 E. Saginaw Hwy Grand Ledge, MI 48837
Time: Team Setup Starts at 9 am, Competition Starts at 10 am.
Cost: $40.00 per teamWhy IRON BREWER? Iron Brewer is a on-site home brewing competition started in 2011 by the Red Salamander. Have you ever seen Iron Chef? If yes, then I think you get the picture. You will brew a beer featuring a secret ingredient only known to the host until it is unveiled. The beer created by each team will have to showcase the secret ingredient. Whoever brews the best beer wins. Judging will take place Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at the Red Ledge Brewers meeting (7pm above the Red Salamander).
Other Competition Information:
• Each Team will be allowed to brew a 5 gallon batch (cost included)
• Each beer will be brewed using only the team's knowledge.
• Absolutely NO books, Internet, or software will be allowed
• Judging is based on 2 factors: the beer itself (90%) and team spirit (10%)
• Judging will occur by an independent panel of the hosts choosing
• Team spirit includes things such as: team t-shirts, supplying food / beer, face painting, etc.
• You will have 6 hours to complete brewing.
• Prizes, oh yes!!!! They depend on the number of teams that enter.
• Past prizes include ($25 gift cards to each brewer on the team) and your team name added to Iron Brewer trophy!!!!!
• If you don't have a team, no problem! We will set up house teams the day of the event.
• Event T-Shirts will be available the day of the event for an extra cost.If you have any questions about the event, please let us know.
