We are excited to announce the details of this year's Roast event. For those who have never attended, the Roast is an opportunity for all of our members and their friends and family to come together to share homebrew and enjoy high quality BBQ.
Date and Time:
The Roast takes the place of our normal monthly meeting in September. In the past, we usually try to hold it on the 3rd Saturday but we will be moving it up to September 8th, one week earlier. Our hope is that this should help prevent any conflicts with high-stakes college football games and the Street Rod Nationals event. We're also thinking the weather will be that much warmer. We'll get things underway at noon and go until 8pm. There is an option to stay overnight (see below).
Location:
Last year's event was held at a Kalamazoo county park (Markin Glen) and we were very happy with the results. We will continue that approach and currently have the Woods Shelter at Coldbrook County Park in Climax, just 20 minutes from downtown Kalamazoo.

There are many great activities to do at Coldbrook including disc golf, fishing, volleyball and softball. For those of you who want to camp-out that evening, you need to make reservations with county parks department in advance. Rustic sites are $15 and improved sites are $20. You may be required to reserve for two nights.
Cost and Tickets:
The officers and Roast planning committee has done everything possible to keep the ticket price as low as possible. The cost is $10 for members and $15 for non-members. Members must have their 2012 dues paid in full to receive their discount so if you have yet to renew, now is a great time to do so. The ticket covers the cost of your entrance into the park, dinner and a collectible pint glass.
Beer and Food:
Dinner will be served by Q-It-Up Catering:

They will be providing chicken and beef tri-tips along with several side dishes.
As for beer, that's where you come in! This is a BYOB event but, more importantly, this is a chance for you to bring you biggest and brew homebrews to share with your fellow members. So start brewing today or set aside your favorite libations to bring to the Roast!
